lubuntu centrifydc

hello (for the second time of writting)

I am trying to connect my lubuntu computer to a Windows Active Directory. I install Lubuntu 16.04 and then do Software updates. Then I install from centrify-suite-2016.1-deb7-x86_64.tgz the package centrifydc-5.3.1-deb7-x86_64.deb. Then if I reboot I do not get to the lightdm screen to login to the gui system.

Can someone please help?

Re: lubuntu centrifydc

i solved this by wiping system and the installing ubuntu server. While running the AD DC virtual machine on a separate computer. Then I installed centrify and joined the domain. Then I installed lubuntu-desktop.

Re: lubuntu centrifydc

@Neill_R1,

Way to show resourcefulness Neil.  We owe you an apology.

The reason why you did not get a response is because Centrify does not actively test that Linux distribution.  Although it is a Debian derivative and with some curiosity you can make it work with our client, there will be unexpected behaviors.

If you think  Lubuntu is gaining ground (plus there's the possibility for Enterprise-type customers to start using it) we encourage you to use the Idea Exchange.

For information about supported platforms, check this out:   https://www.centrify.com/products/server-suite/system-catalog/

Re: lubuntu centrifydc

i concur that this is solved by me installing the os and desktop gui in a different way. Howver I still have issues mainly i think in understandingof what should be visable in windows once the linux server has joined the domain. I will start a new post .

Re: lubuntu centrifydc

@Neill_R1,

Of course you are going to have problems.  That's what we told you in your original post.

Lubuntu is not a supported platform.  We don't actively test our software againsta that distro nor do fixes.

If you are a commercial organization ask for it to be supported in the Idea Exchange forum.  If we get enough paying customers behind that distro, then it will be added to the portfolio.

The list of supported platforms is in the Express download page.
