Centrify SSH is hosed -- can't uninstall the client

So, I think an apt-get update && apt-get dist-upgrade accidentally reinstalled the regular OpenSSH package on top of the Centrify package.  SSH was completely broken.

I tried removing the client from the command-line, but it said that the Centrify OpenSSH package was badly corrupted and needed to be reinstalled.  But attempting to reinstall the Centrify OpenSSH package just caused the install process to hang.

When I try to remove the Centrify client from the GUI, it fails.  Here is the error trace:

What do I have to do to either remove Centrify from the host or clean up the current install?

Thx.

Re: Centrify SSH is hosed -- can't uninstall the client

Try the following steps:

apt-get purge centrifydc

apt-get purge centrifydc-openssh

adleave -f

dpkg -P centrifydc-openssh

dpkg -P centrifydc

Then try to reinstall.

Re: Centrify SSH is hosed -- can't uninstall the client

I searched a lot on ubuntu and ubuntugeek on this issue i.e., package getting badly corrupted and here is something i found thats worth trying; if this does not work then I am running out of ideas.

dpkg --remove --force-remove-reinstreq centrifydc-openssh

dpkg --remove --force-remove-reinstreq centrifydc

One more thing...  You may wish to make exluding the openssh package from apt-get a standard part of the software build.
