Modify Centrify Managed automount ~NIS maps

Hi

I'm using Centrify managed automount maps without adnisd making use of the adauto.pl script (although I'm looking at changing this to leverage Centrify's automount NSS support).

Is there a method available to modify, add or delete map entries from the Unix client command like (e.g. using adedit) ?

Thanks

Tim

Hello Tim,

Welcome to Centrify!

If you are looking for a tool to edit NIS Maps like auto.home / netgroup from Unix server, I believe that ADEdit could be helpful.

You could execute "adedit" to enter interactive mode,

then you could make use of the following commands to bind with your AD domain then add/remove any NIS Maps in the zone:

# adedit

# package require ade_lib

# bind <AD domain> <username to bind>

# select_zone <DN of the zone>

# list_nis_maps

# add_nis_map

# delete_nis_map

Please ensure that the user binding to the AD domain has sufficient permission to modify objects like NIS Map in the zone.

Best Regards,

Alan Ho

Good documentation on the adedit NIS management functions and adedit in general on the Centrify documentation center: https://docs.centrify.com/en/css/2018-html/index.html#page/ADEdit_scripting%2FHow_ADEdit_uses_Tcl.2.....

Hi Alan

I'm looking to add, modify and delete individual map entries in existing maps as opposed to deleting and creating entire maps.

Cheers

Hi Fel,

Thanks for the link I'll have a look

The links I found in other forum post didn't work.

Cheers

To modify an existing NIS map, select the NIS map first using "select_nis_map <nismap>".

After you have a NIS map stored in memory, you can use the following commands to work with that map:
add_map_entry or add_map_entry_with_comment adds an entry to the current NIS map stored in memory.
delete_map_entry removes an entry from the current NIS map.
delete_nis_map deletes the selected NIS map from Active Directory and from memory.
get_nis_map or get_nis_map_with_comment returns a Tcl list of the map entries in the current NIS map.
get_nis_map_field reads a field value from the current NIS map.
list_nis_map or list_nis_map_with_comment lists to stdout the map entries in the current NIS map.
save_nis_map saves the selected NIS map with its current entries to Active Directory.

Hi Fel,

Thanks for the pointers, I now have a nice little TCL script to add my map entries.

Cheers
