[Mac] Migrating local account home directories to network users

Centrify provides an account migration tool that simplifies the process of converting a local account's home directory into the Active Directory account. Migrating the account helps to save the user's files, application settings, and browser bookmarks. You can access the Account Migration utility, once you have the Centrify Mac agent installed on the Mac and bound the Mac to Active Directory.

To migrate an account

1. Log into the Mac as a user that will not be migrated / converted into an Active Directory account.

2. Go to System Preferences > Centrify > Account Migration tab.

3. Click on the lock icon in the lower left corner and enter a Mac administrator credentials when prompted.

4. Select the local account that you want to migrate then click on the Link button.

  • If the local and network accounts do NOT have identical usernames
    • Enter the Active Directory username into the Search for an AD user window that pops up.
    • Click OK when the Local user detected window pops up.
    • Then click Apply.
  • If the local and network accounts have identical usernames
    • Click OK when the Local user detected window pops up.
    • Then click Apply.

Is there a trial for this?  I am getting ready to move a number of Mac's to Windows AD and the migration tool looks like it could make life a lot easier!  I would like to try it on a machine to see if it will fit into our migration plan.
